I had the privilege of capturing a special moment this weekend as Jay planned a surprise proposal for his girlfriend Megan. It was a crazy day of planning and plans changing. Jay plays on the Colorado Mesa University baseball team, and they were in a tournament this weekend. When their team won, our plans had to change an afternoon on the Colorado Monument to an evening at Sherwood Park. Since this weekend was graduation at CMU, we set up the surprise proposal disguised as family photos in honor of Jay’s graduation.

As the game finished up, Megan’s mom and sister decorated at Sherwood Park with lots of lights, candles, and flowers, making a beautiful setup for the proposal!  They had even gotten Megan a t-shirt reading “Future Mrs. Young” that they hung in the background. As we waited for Jay to arrive the family kept making sure Megan was distracted and stalled from arriving too early. Talk about pressure! There were a few moments where everyone held their breath, waiting for everything to line up. We all breathed a sigh of relief as it all clicked into place. The sparklers were lit and Megan and Jay were surrounded by their loved ones as he knelt down on one knee and asked her to be Future Mrs. Young. It was magical. Megan could not stop marveling at how Jay pulled it off! Enjoy some of my favorite moments from the surprise proposal:
