Sam and Kaitlyn’s Powderhorn Ski Resort wedding had the ultimate “mountain wedding” theme, with a ton of personal and family touches in every part of the day. As I started the day with details, I could already see their love of the outdoors coming through, with Sam’s mushroom bolo tie tying in his passion for mycology and Kaitlyn’s “Field Notes” vow book and family turquoise pieces. She also had the most beautiful pair of floral Keds (her new initials!) to tie together their wildflower vibes of the day.
They told me in our initial inquiry that they were really going to let the mountain handle the decor for the day, and I have to say that never fails to be absolutely stunning! This year’s wildflowers were gorgeous. Kaitlyn is a big quilter, as are some of her family, to where they hung a quilt on their ceremony arch that had a cool story. It was a double wedding ring patterned quilt sewn by her great-great-grandmother for her great-grandmother’s wedding. It was still in amazing condition after all these years and made a beautiful backdrop for the ceremony. Her cousin even surprised them with a ring pillow for the ring bearer sewn from heirloom hankies!
The outdoorsy theme even spilled into their wedding favors: Nalgene water bottles and custom stickers to remember the day. One of the most fun favors I’ve seen this year! Instead of a cake they served peach cobbler and peach cupcakes, and there was the most delicious peach ginger beer to drink as well. As a Palisade peach lover, I was in heaven! The evening finished off with toasts and dancing, and their sunset photos even allowed for a rainbow! Kaitlyn and Sam, thank you so much for sharing such a beautiful day with me!
