I’ll be honest. With the bizarre autumn we’ve been having here this year — from early colors, quickly dropping leaves, snow at elevation, weeks of rain here — I’ve been a little worried about my fall sessions. In talking with Alexandra I knew she wanted to capture the mountains in their autumn Ouray engagement session, and with any luck get some fall colors too. We knew that might not be possible this year, but we were going to try!!
She and Marcus just moved to Colorado this past summer, so she left it up to me to choose some locations. When I heard that they got engaged near Mt. Sneffels I knew we needed to head south! We met up in Ouray for a beer at the Ouray Brewery before we explored some of my favorite mountain views. We ended the session with a miraculous amount of fall color still hanging on up in Ridgway. It was the absolute perfect combination! We couldn’t have been more fortunate.
It was fun to drive through the mountains with them and hear about their proposal – both of them reiterating how it was “such a long LONG hike” haha. They had talked for a while about the idea of marriage and knew they both wanted to marry one another. On their hike in Telluride to the Mt. Sneffels area Alex remarked off-hand that it would be such a beautiful place to propose. Not realizing that Marcus had intended to propose on that exact hike, she was shocked as he knelt down on one knee after she said it!
One of the best moments is when my couples remark how much fun their sessionas and how they didn’t feel as awkward having their photo taken as they thought they would.
