Michelle and Josh shared a beautiful Mesa Park Vineyards Wedding – a totally new venue to me! As it turns out, Michelle’s sister Laura and her husband bought the vineyard last winter and have been working hard to build its winery and introduce it as a wedding venue! It truly has some of the best views I’ve seen in the area, and I’m excited to hopefully work there more!
I met up with Michelle at Mesa Park Vineyards for getting ready. She had the most beautiful details! It was so fun to finally meet her and hear about her story in person, after much communication via email. The two first met at a pub in Highlands Ranch in Denver where she was bartending. He actually went to high school with one of Michelle’s sisters, so she introduced herself as such. I asked them to recall that night, and Michelle said, “All I remember about that interaction was how blue his eyes were and how nice of a smile he had. I remember day dreaming about him for a second before getting back to work.” Josh told me, “I remember exactly where I was sitting and what I was eating when I saw her. Must’ve have been an important memory!”
That really is the kind of connection they have! After they dated in Denver, Josh supported Michelle in pursuing residencies all over the nation (she’s a pharmacist) and his support is really when she knew she met the one. “He wanted to stay in Colorado but knew there weren’t many options for me there and instead happily uprooted his life to allow me to follow my dreams!” They got engaged in Denver on the rooftop of Laura’s home, and moved to Boston for her work. One of the things they were both looking forward to most for their big day was being close to friends and family they hadn’t seen after the move.
During getting ready, Josh and Michelle wrote love letters to one another. This was not only a wonderful moment for them to reflect on their love and the journey that brought them there – and the journey they were about to embark upon – but they also sealed the letters during the ceremony in a wine box with a bottle from the vineyard, to be opened on their fifth anniversary to remember this day! Isn’t that sweet?!
We had the amazing chance to take portraits in the vineyard AND the neighboring orchard that evening, and I lost my mind with how stunning everything was. Overlooking Mt. Garfield, with the last bits of autumn color hanging on the trees, it was just perfect. Back in the tent for the reception, the speeches began. My favorite that almost brought me to tears was Michelle’s parents speaking about how proud they were of her, all that she had accomplished, and welcoming Josh into the family. Her dad shared funny memories of a book she wrote when she was small that he even had with him to share with the guests! It was just so touching.
The two danced the night away with their friends and family as the DJ played song after song perfectly in line with their mood moment to moment. It was the best celebration to end my wedding season with! Thank you Josh and Michelle for sharing such a beautiful day with me!
