With the Colorado National Monument covered in a fresh blanket of snow, I wove my way to our ceremony spot excited to start 2020 off with a New Year’s Day elopement with Chelsea and James. As we got out of our cars we were greeted by their first wedding guests: some of the park’s big horn sheep! They witnessed, along with Chelsea and James’ friends watching their daughter Genevieve, as the couple exchanged their vows on the cliff side.
Between vows, though, the herd of sheep decided it was time to move on and came walking through the site – interrupting the ceremony for a moment, and resulting in a really awesome story! I can’t say I’ve ever had that happen at an elopement until now haha. Following the interruption James and Chelsea sealed their vows with a kiss – mirroring the Kissing Couple formation in the background. It was the perfect start to the 2020 season! Tromping through the snow, the whole group were troopers despite the cold temperatures that seemed to only get colder the longer we were out there. In exchange for the snowy adventure came some really awesome portraits, though. The Colorado National Monument and all it’s pillars and cliffs covered in snow is not a sight many get to see, nonetheless get married in!
