So you’re planning your Palisade wedding at Colterris Winery… awesome! From a photography standpoint, this venue is incredible. With a variety of backdrops it really has the best of all worlds for what Palisade in general has to offer. I’m going to be diving into what makes Colterris a great wedding venue and what to know about getting married at Colterris Winery!
While Colterris doesn’t exactly offer a getting ready suite, there are a few great options right nearby! The Wine Country Inn offers accommodations for your guests coming from out of town, and it is a great option for prepping before your wedding day. If the hotel room look isn’t what you’re going for, you can also opt for a cute vacation rental in Palisade for getting ready – there are a few really awesome options in the area!
As I started to allude to, the portrait options at Colterris Winery are so varied and beautiful. The most infamous backdrop here is the overlook, with the Colorado River and Mt. Garfield proudly standing along the horizon. That’s just the beginning of what Colterris has to offer, though! Imagine portraits in the peach orchard, the winery vineyards, AND fields of lavender! You can get allllll the looks at Colterris, which is a photographer’s dream!
Wedding Ceremony Location
The main ceremony location at Colterris is the gondola near the overlook. Your guests can enjoy the ceremony while taking in the incredible overlook views! The biggest thing to be aware of while you’re planning your wedding here, is that there is no shade at this location, so it can be bright and hot depending on how you arrange the ceremony setup.
Wedding Reception Location
Many wedding receptions at Colterris are held up near the tasting room, with the wide open area outside. You can use tents to set up your dinner area and in case of inclement weather, and the paved area makes a great space to create your dance floor! Using a “tent” topped with lights from one of the local rental companies is a cool way to get your guests dancing under the stars until your grand exit at the end of the night.
Things to Consider
When planning your wedding at Colterris Winery, there are a few things to be aware of. Because a lot, if not all, of your wedding will be outdoors, you’ll want to consider what to do for bad weather. Tents for rain or heaters on cold evenings could be necessary! You’ll also want to consider what rental pieces you’ll need. Tables and chairs for reception and ceremony might need to be brought in. Also because it’s an orchard and winery, you might need to consider harvest season and whether that affects available dates or not.
Colterris Winery is a beautiful option for your Palisade wedding, especially if you’ve dreamed of getting married at one of the area’s wineries! Check them out for more information.
