Meet Amanda – Wedding Photographer in Grand Junction
Hey there! I’m Amanda and I’m the artist behind the lens here at amanda.matilda.photography. After moving from Iowa to the Grand Junction area a few years back with my husband Eric and our cat Spaz, I am thrilled to finally find a place that feels like home.
I specialize in creating genuine, vibrant, and unique photographs for modern and adventurous couples. I also specialize in drinking chai tea lattes, finding new trails to hike, baking, and watching Gilmore Girls reruns! As an English Major, I’ve always loved stories. I grew up reading like crazy and wanting to be an author, but I’ve found a new storytelling medium and I’m so stoked that this is my job!
As a full service wedding photographer in Grand Junction, I offer high end products and wall art for my clients. I believe in longevity — these memories are priceless and should be shared! My albums, canvases, and framed prints are heirloom quality to last a lifetime and more.
One of the best parts of my job is getting tear-filled hugs from you and your mom as you end the best day of your life, and again when you hold your album in your hands to relive the day from cover to cover!
I’m all about stepping away from the stuffy, same-old photography. One of my keywords used to describe my style is “genuine” because I believe in capturing real moments and steering clear of those overly posed, what-are-you-doing-no-one-sits-like-that photos. I also believe in capturing real people, which is why my retouching is fairly limited — none of that plastic skin, Barbie-doll eyes here. Just the most real you in the most flattering way.
My mission is to beautifully capture the story and scenery of your celebration and to provide genuine, emotional artwork for our wedding photography clients. I aim to provide the most memorable, simplified and fun experience, and give my couples tangible high-end artwork from these experiences to pass on to future generations of family.
I’m all about stories (as you can see!) so it’s only right you know our love story!
Eric and I met in a book store. Actually, we were both working there and I was training him as our new employee. Several hours in a slow mall as the only two employees meant lots of hours of talking. We quickly got past the small talk and into deeper issues and that’s when one thing led to another! We began hanging out and spent most of our time together.
Eric said “I love you” first. We were both miserable in our tiny midwest town and vowed to get out together. Eventually our extravagant plan to move to Colorado took shape and we started saving! The year of the move we got engaged. I was home taking a nap when Eric walked in with cupcakes. I was confused and asked him what they cupcakes were for, to which he replied, “To celebrate!” as he pulled out the ring of my dreams!
Our wedding took place in the fall of the year after we moved in an intimate celebration on the Grand Mesa at the peak of the color change. We were thrilled to show our friends and family the place we love so dearly, in our favorite season!
Amanda is the one who feeds Spaz, changes his litter box, plays with him and gives him treats, but Eric is still his favorite person anyway. She’s a little salty about it.
When not corresponding with clients, photographing love in amazing landscapes, or editing photos, you can find Amanda dancing in the kitchen – even if there’s no music playing, catching up on her favorite youtube channels, hiking with Eric, or laying on the couch watching Gilmore Girls.
Husband extraordinaire, Eric loves to cook and makes dinner most nights (can I get a “hallelujah!”??)
As a Grand Junction realtor a lot of his days are spent in the office (definitely hit him up if you’re buying or selling! If you like me, you’ll love him.) In his free time you’ll find him smoking meats, hiking with Amanda, letting Spaz roam around the yard, and brushing up on his WWI and WWII history (that he probably already knows.)
Spaz (aka Buz)
Spaz, also affectionately known in our home as “Buz” (it’s a long story) has been our furbaby since 2014. Have I mentioned that Eric is definitely his favorite?
Spaz can be found sleeping on the couch, sleeping on Eric’s office chair, sleeping on the kitchen table, sleeping in his cat bed, or sleeping on his cat tree. Yes, he’s spoiled. When not sleeping, he loves to stand by the back door and whine to be let outside, or furiously play with his loudest toys in the middle of the night right outside the bedroom (ha!)
